November in Dorset

Launceston Farm, Dorset (10th December 2014)

With November being one of those quieter months to ponder upon before the festive season begins, we are all taking the time for home and some self improvement.

I have enrolled on the Basic Bread (18th) at The Panary – one of the multitude of craft baking courses at a family run, traditional water mill near Shaftesbury.  They offer 10% discount for couples and have availability for November.  Charlie from Long Crichel Bakery ,just five miles down the road, is running one of his infamous sourdough courses on 28th with lots of hands on bread making for enthusiastic home bakers.

The resident makers at Walford Mill Crafts in Wimborne – a more contemporary mill venue – are running Autumn craft courses throughout November covering British Garden Birds in Wire (15th), Needle Felted Robins (21st) and Willow Christmas Trees (23rd).

A recommendation from our guests is the Burngate Stone Carving Centre who are running an Introduction to Stone Carving (20th) to master basic stone carving techniques using traditional templates; ivy leaves, sun, flowers and fish.
