Our top five Dorset beaches

Ringstead Bay

Ringstead Bay

To avoid crowds this Summer, these are our top five picks for adult-friendly day out.

Worbarrow Bay. Park at the abandoned village of Tyneham -all its inhabitants were evicted during WWII to make way for Army HQ – and set off on the mile long stroll through woodland and heathland down to the bay.

Chapman’s Pool in the picturesque village of Worth Matravers with its epic pub The Square and Compasses which only sells pies and it has its own fossil museum…brilliant. Quite a steep climb down to the beach but it’s worth it.

Dancing Ledge. When the tide comes in the sea forms a natural pool. Perfect for grown-up swimming.

Ringstead Bay (pictured). Our absolute favourite. Walk along the stunning stretch of south west coast path to the Smugglers pub in Osmington for lunch.

West Bexington. Nothing there but lots of pebbles, fishermen and a café selling cream teas. Perfect.

If you know of any others, we would love to hear from you.
